Black Excellence in Sports
Champions who turned talent into ownership — franchises, firms, foundations and empires far bigger than the game.
Every list is published in Top 10, Top 12 and Top 15 installments. Every profile is fact-checked against its sources, and every person appears exactly once in this edition.
Two lists, twenty-seven champions: the Gold edition's record of Black excellence in sports — and of everything the sports were only the start of.
The first list follows fifteen champions for whom the contracts were just the seed money; what they built after the final whistle is the real highlight reel. The second adds twelve more, across baseball diamonds, ice rinks, golf courses and the WNBA, who refused to let the game be the whole story.
Franchises, firms, foundations and empires far bigger than the game — that is the thread running through both lists, and every profile is fact-checked with its sources linked. No athlete appears twice in this edition.
